A gas stove is common in many homes. Over time, it accumulates stains that are difficult to remove. The biggest issue, however, is the burners. How do you clean them? You only need two things you most likely already have in your kitchen cabinet.

Stovetop burners are an integral part of the gas stove. They can have unsightly burns due to contact with fire and food. They require regular cleaning, but most of us put this off, resulting in buildup that becomes really tough to remove.

How to effectively clean stovetop burners so that they shine again? Reach for old, tried-and-true remedies that easily get rid of all the grime. Most of these you surely already have at home.

How to effectively clean the burners?

Grease, dirt, and food residues are just a few things that accumulate on gas burners. In stores, you can find many products designed to remove burnt-on grime, but each is based on very strong chemicals. While effective, they can irritate the skin.

There is a much cheaper, eco-friendly, and completely safe way to eliminate stains on the burners. All you need is what you most likely already have in your kitchen cabinet: vinegar (you can substitute it with citric acid) and baking soda.

Before cleaning, turn off the gas and remove the burners. Pour a cup of warm water, vinegar, and five tablespoons of dishwashing liquid into a bowl. Mix it thoroughly, and then immerse the dirty burners in the solution. Leave them there for half an hour.

Sprinkle on the stove. It’ll be like new

After 30 minutes, remove the burners. Sprinkle them with baking soda and rub them onto the surface using a brush (after mixing them with a bit of water). The grime should come off without much trouble. Finally, rinse the burners thoroughly under running water and dry them completely. They will look like new.

You can also use baking soda to clean the grates and the gas stove. Simply sprinkle it over the surface of the cooktop and scrub it in with a damp sponge and a little dishwashing liquid. The paste will dissolve the grease and dirt. After 10 minutes, remove it with a damp cloth. Repeat this process once a week, and you’ll forget about stubborn stains.
