The bedroom is predominantly a place for rest and relaxation, a sanctuary where we rejuvenate after long, tiring days. Unfortunately, our sleep can sometimes be disrupted by various factors. Mold spores thriving in a humid environment, for instance, can be quite troublesome.

To circumvent this issue, the usage of moisture absorbers is recommended. Fortunately, it is not a costly affair because these absorbers can easily be made at home.

Tackling humidity

In the fall-winter phase, when room ventilation is compromised and humidity levels rise, mold can make an appearance in our homes. Since it is harmful to our health, we should do everything in our power to prevent its proliferation.

Regular room ventilation, changing the bedding and dusting are fundamental practices. However, incorporating moisture absorbers can be useful. Even though they are easily accessible in stores, it's always better to make them yourself.

Salt and rice: your humidity-fighting allies

A homemade moisture absorber is ideal when you seek to maintain your space without overspending. It's also a safe, natural, and environmentally-friendly method.

What's required? Predominantly, table salt, which is an impressive moisture absorber. It will effectively inhibit the growth of mold in hard-to-reach areas, such as under the bed. To avoid creating a mess, it's advisable to place the salt on a plate, in a bowl, or in an open jar.

Rice can also serve as an excellent alternative to salt. It excels at absorbing moisture. Simply put it in a cotton bag and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. This method will not only ward off mold formation, but also give your room a pleasing scent.
