Preparing a tasty and nutritious dessert does not involve investing in exotically named ingredients or premium superfoods. Simply mixing orange juice and cornstarch instantly results in a delicious dessert on your pan. It bears resemblance to fruit jelly, yet possesses a sturdier texture and can be conveniently sliced into smaller portions.
Dessert from two ingredients
When I presented this treat to my sister-in-law, she was in disbelief over its simplicity. Without hesitation, she fetched her phone and jotted down the recipe. It's truly simple - orange juice and cornstarch. The thickening qualities of cornstarch metamorphoses the beverage into a visually appealing snack.
If you prefer a more firm texture to the dessert, opt for agar or gelatin. It will certainly impress jelly enthusiasts.
Ingredients:
- 2.11 cups of orange juice,
- 2.12 ounces of cornstarch.
Preparation Instructions:
- Strain the orange juice for clarity and removal of membranes. Squeezing fresh fruit is optimal, but if that's not feasible, pick a high quality 100 percent juice.
- Add cornstarch to the juice, ensuring thorough mixing to prevent clumping.
- Pour the mixture into the pan and initiate heating at medium intensity, stirring continuously.
- Once the mixture thickens, allow it to cool off the heat for half an hour.
- Post-cooling, transfer the dessert to a plate and portion it for serving.
