Prepare our homemade compote using dried fruit and serve it on Christmas Eve. It's a crowd-pleaser, no one will turn it down!
Ingredients:
- 1.1 lbs of dried fruit (apples, pears, plums, and chokeberries),
- 1.06 qt of cold water,
- 3 teaspoons of sugar,
- 3 tablespoons of lemon juice,
- 1 cinnamon stick,
- 2 star anise,
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
Instructions:
Step 1. Begin the recipe by transferring the dried fruit into a pot. This time, I'm using plums, chokeberries, pears, and apples for the recipe. Next, I fill the pot with cold water, and leave the pot to stand for 30 minutes.
Step 2. After 30 minutes, I place the pot on the stove and begin to cook the compote.
Step 3. Meanwhile, I add a cinnamon stick, star anise, and ground cinnamon to the pot. Using a regular tablespoon, I gently stir the contents.
Step 4. Next, I add sugar and lemon juice to the pot. I stir the mixture again gently. Lastly, I simmer everything for an additional 10-15 minutes.
Step 5. I serve the prepared compote in tall glasses with an extra cinnamon stick and a few pieces of star anise for garnish. The presentation is complimented by a charming, festively decorated spoon. Enjoy!
