Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, faces new cancer battle: Skin cancer follows successful breast cancer surgery
Sarah Ferguson became part of the British royal family through her marriage to Prince Andrew. Even though she divorced the Queen's middle son nearly 30 years ago, she formally remains the Duchess of York. The 64-year-old currently holds no official roles but occasionally participates in royal events.
Last June, Sarah Ferguson was in the headlines for health reasons. Her representative announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had undergone successful surgery.

Sadly, the mother of Beatrice and Eugenie received another health blow, namely, a skin cancer diagnosis.
After her early-stage breast cancer diagnosis this summer, the Duchess of York has been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, her spokesperson said on Sunday.
During her reconstructive surgery following the mastectomy, the doctor removed numerous moles from Ferguson's body. One analyzed mole revealed cancerous changes.
The statement continued that the Duchess wishes to acknowledge the medical team, especially the dermatologist whose vigilance enabled timely disease detection.
Update on Sarah Ferguson's health and emotional state
Sarah is undergoing treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London under Dr. Andrew Furness, a medical oncology consultant, and Catherine Borysiewicz, a dermatology consultant at King Edward VII Hospital in London. Currently, she is recovering at the MAYRLIFE clinic in Austria. The spokesperson reports that the 64-year-old is undertaking a series of tests for her ongoing treatment plan. Despite her condition, she remains resilient and unbowed.
