The rumors—ranging from cosmetic surgery recovery and Prince William's alleged affair to wild speculations about the Duchess's demise—were rampant. Ultimately, Kate herself dispelled these theories through a heartfelt video shared online.
“The surgery was successful, but subsequent tests uncovered cancer. I am now undergoing preventive chemotherapy,” the Duchess shared, dispelling the ridiculous rumors. This confession prompted those who had previously ridiculed the royal family member to reconsider their stance.
Blake Lively apologizes after mocking Kate to promote her brand
Mocking Kate's absence and the surrounding conspiracy theories almost became a trend among celebrities abroad. A poorly edited photo of the Duchess with her children, released on Mother's Day (March 10 in the UK), incited further mockery. Blake Lively was one of the commentators.
For months, Lively has been vigorously promoting her Betty Buzz and Betty Booze cocktail lines on social media, recently adding non-alcoholic options to the brand. In this context, she posted manipulated pictures on her Instagram, which were later removed and no longer available online.
In her caption, Lively alluded to Buckingham Palace's efforts to manage the situation around Kate. "I'm thrilled to share a photo I took today. (…) Now you know why I was MIA [missing in action]," she wrote, but her words were not well received by her fans.
Following the Duchess's touching video, Lively quickly rectified her previous misstep.
"Today, my earlier post may seem trivial, but I feel the need to address it. I made a careless remark about a 'Photoshop fail,' and I regret that now. I'm sorry. Sending love and best wishes to all," Ryan Reynolds' wife expressed.
