What do you need to know?

  • Video published by RIA Novosti: On Tuesday, the Russian agency RIA Novosti shared a video that shows drone operators directing attacks on Ukraine from an office building in Moscow.
  • Quick removal of the video: The video was posted on the agency's Telegram channel but was soon removed thereafter.
  • Outrage in Russia: The publication of the video sparked a wave of criticism among Russian military bloggers.

Surprising video from the heart of Moscow

The video that appeared on the agency's Telegram channel was quickly removed but continued to circulate on the internet.

The video shows people in the Moscow International Business Center tower were directing drones in attacks on Ukraine.

Who was directing the drones?

One of the Russian battalions reported that during the operation, the drones were directed by formation commander Stanislav Orlov, known as "Ispaniec." This individual, based in rented apartments in Moscow City, successfully attacked a target near Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine.

- The operator feels safe and experiences no psychological pressure, says one of the operation participants in the video, highlighting the fundamental difference between traditional battlefield and modern warfare actions.

Wave of criticism

The publication of the video sparked outrage among some Russian military bloggers. The criticism focused on both the revelation of the operators' location and the moral aspects of the attacks on Ukraine. Although the video quickly disappeared from the Russian agency's social media, it surfaced elsewhere on the internet.
