Drone attack targets key Rosneft refinery in Samara region
The Rosneft-owned refinery in Syzran was targeted by a drone attack during the night of February 18. Emergency services are actively responding on-site, and the threat of further drone attacks in the Samara region persists.
The governor of the Samara region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, confirmed the drone attack on the Syzran refinery.
Operational and emergency services are currently on the scene. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, according to "Kommersant".
The Syzran refinery has a processing capacity of approximately 9.8 million short tons of oil per year and produces a wide range of petroleum products, including motor fuels, aviation kerosene, and bitumen.
The plant employs over 2,200 people. Following the attack, a drone threat was declared in the Samara region at around 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has issued a warning about the ongoing threat of drone attacks. Residents of the region are advised to remain vigilant. The situation is under close observation, and services are prepared to take action if necessary.
