The dirt from the past of streamer Herschel Beahm, known as Dr Disrespect, has come to light. The creator revealed why he lost a lucrative partnership with Twitch a few years ago. The issue might weigh heavily on the future career of this gaming icon.

Few people on the internet have as distinctive an appearance as Dr Disrespect. The 42-year-old creator from the USA looks like he was pulled straight out of a video game. A black wig, reflective sunglasses, large headphones, a distinctive mustache, and a red vest are integral to the popular streamer's image.

"Apex Legends," "PUBG: Battlegrounds," "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4," "Call of Duty: Warzone," "Fortnite," and "H1Z1" are the games that Dr Disrespect streamed. In 2020, he signed a contract with Twitch. The collaboration ended abruptly and mysteriously, as the reason for the streamer's ban from the platform was unknown until June 2024.

Dr Disrespect wrote to a minor

Former Twitch director Cody Conners described the story of a creator who was banned from the platform on social media. The reason was that "he got banned because he got caught sexting a minor in the then-existing Twitch whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon."

Cody did not state outright that Dr Disrespect is the antihero of this scandalous story. Internet users quickly connected the dots and began associating the popular streamer with the case. The Verge also wrote about the star's inappropriate behavior, citing anonymous Twitch employees. Finally, the creator himself addressed the rumors and admitted he wasn’t blameless.

Dr Disrespect confirmed that he sent messages to a minor. "Were there twitch whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not. These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more. Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed, I never even met the individual," wrote Dr Disrespect on X.

"Now, from a moral standpoint I'll absolutely take responsibility. I should have never entertained these conversations to begin with. That's on me. That's on me as an adult, a husband and a father. It should have never happened. I get it. I’m not perfect, and I’ll fucking own my shit. This was stupid. (...). I'm no f***g predator or paedophile," admitted the creator.

The first serious consequence of the scandal is that Dr Disrespect lost his position at Midnight Society - the video game studio he co-founded.
