Doctor warns: Don't urinate in the shower, here's why
Dr. Emma Qureshey, an obstetrician-gynecologist from Houston, shared a few guidelines on social media for maintaining good intimate health. One of her recommendations is to avoid urinating in the shower.
Social media today offers a wealth of information on topics related to both mental and physical health. Among those sharing advice on maintaining proper health is Dr. Emma Qureshey, a gynecologist from Houston. She runs an account on TikTok where she provides many practical tips.
"I would never do this," she wrote in a video discussing urinating in the shower.
Never do this in the shower
Why can this be harmful to our intimate health? As she explained, urinating in the shower can weaken the pelvic floor, especially when done in a standing position. It can also lead to a scenario where the sound of running water triggers a sudden urge to urinate.
The standing position also does not promote pelvic relaxation, which means the bladder does not empty fully. Over time, this can lead to issues with frequent urination and lack of control over this function.
Doctor on treating vaginal infections
Dr. Emma Qureshey also emphasized that many women make the mistake of trying to treat vaginal infections on their own. She particularly pointed out home remedies like using garlic or yogurt. According to her, these are ineffective and may even worsen the condition. In the case of a vaginal infection (and other infections), one should consult a doctor.
