Speaking of traditional recipes passed down from generations, we can't overlook the ingenious pine cone cookies, concealing a delicious surprise. Crisp cookies possessing a unique texture, filled with delightful chocolate and plum stuffing, have proven to be a real hit!
Take a look at the step-by-step recipe in the attached video.
When these cookies are served, they're gone in the blink of an eye—they are just that good!
Ingredients:
- 2.64 lbs of wheat flour,
- 0.22 lbs of butter,
- 1 pinch of salt,
- 0.22 lbs of 18% cream,
- 2 egg yolks,
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder,
- 12 dried plums,
- 12 pieces of dark chocolate.
How to prepare:
Step 1. I start the recipe by sifting the flour to aerate it, which ensures the future cookies will be even fluffier. I then add the butter into smaller fragments to the sifted flour and merge both ingredients using a small knife.
Step 2. I proceed to add cream, baking powder, and yolks to this mixture. At this stage, I knead the dough with my hands to achieve a homogeneous and smooth mix.
Step 3. The kneaded dough is then divided into smaller chunks, from which I form small balls. Each ball is placed on the countertop, where it is then flattened. This step allows me to use a masher and create an interesting texture on the dough, reminiscent of forest pine cones—hence, the cookies' name.
Step 4. Each piece prepared above is turned over, with dried plum and a piece of dark chocolate placed at the center.
Finally, I join the pieces of dough forming the unique pine cone shape.
Step 5. The prepared cookies are transferred to a baking pan lined with parchment paper. The cookies then go into a preheated oven for 25 minutes at 374 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 6. The finished cookies are served dusted with powdered sugar. Feel free to decorate your homemade pastries with homemade icing or chocolate sauce if you prefer. Choose the garnish that suits your taste best. Bon Appetit!
