Discover Klaipeda: Baltic bliss

Klaipeda is surrounded mainly by the Curonian Lagoon. However, be prepared for a bit of a walk as the trek to the beach from the city center takes approximately one hour.

Klaipeda is situated in the ethnographic region of Lithuania Minor and holds significant historical and cultural value in the country's landscape. In the past, this area was part of Prussia. During those days, the region occupied by Lithuanian-speaking people was integrated into the department, later becoming the Gąbin province. Although the Lithuanian population did not possess their own administration, their cultural and ethnic identities flourished.

Klaipeda boasts a rich history, with an abundance of monuments waiting to be explored. Highlights include the ruins of the Memelburg Teutonic Castle and a 19th-century dramatic theater, considered the oldest theater building in Lithuania. The historical 18th-century granary buildings also add to the city's unique character.

Klaipeda's identity as a typical port city is noticeable in every corner. Within the port area, tourists can witness cargo ships from around the world and tourist boats offering cruises on the Baltic Sea.
