It is easy to agree that throughout the year we find ample opportunities to celebrate. These celebratory events often feature lavish spreads, featuring various delicious snacks. With St Andrew's Day, here's another fantastic chance to serve something both exciting and tasty.
Today, let me show you a simple method to create a snack based on pizza dough, embellished by stringy cheese and mouthwatering meatballs. This delicious combination is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece!
A step-by-step guide to prepare this snack is available in our video.
This irresistible snack will delight from the first bite, and being served warm, it's perfect for the autumn-winter season
Ingredients:
For the meatballs:
- 21 oz of ground turkey,
- 5.3 oz of smoked bacon,
- 1/3 cup of parsley,
- 1/3 cup of grated Parmesan,
- 2 eggs,
- 1/2 a wheat roll, soaked in milk,
- 2 cloves of garlic,
- 1 teaspoon of salt,
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper.
Additional ingredients:
- 28 oz pizza dough (divided into two equal parts),
- 8.8 oz Camembert cheese,
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil,
- 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan.
Method of preparation:
Step 1. Start by preparing the turkey meatballs. In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, eggs, finely chopped bacon, grated Parmesan, peeled and crushed garlic cloves, parsley, salt, pepper, and a roll soaked in milk.
Step 2. Knead the ingredients together until well combined. From this mixture, shape small meatballs and set aside.
Step 3. Divide the pizza dough in half and roll out each portion into a large circle. Place one of these circles on a chopping board, and in the center, position the whole Camembert cheese.
Step 4. Using a sheet of baking paper cut into a circle with a hole big enough for the cheese to fit neatly through, place the cut-out sheet directly on top of the dough. This will prevent both sheets of dough from sticking together, making assembly significantly easier.
Step 5. With the second dough circle, place it on top of the cheese and baking sheet and make several cuts to create sections. On each of these, place a meatball and fold the dough over it.
Step 6. Once the top layer of the snack is assembled, remove the baking paper and repeat the assembly process with the second layer of pizza dough.
Step 7. Move the prepared dough and ingredients to a baking dish, then drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with parmesan. Bake this in a preheated oven for 20 minutes at 392 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 8. Upon taking it out of the oven, position the baked snack on a counter or server, allowing guests to pull apart and enjoy the baked meatball-filled dough coupled with the perfectly stretchy cheese. Bon appétit!
