Cherries contain a lot of dietary fibre. Although generally beneficial for digestion, in certain cases, it can cause more harm than good, especially when consumed with a large amount of water.
Eating cherries and drinking water can accelerate the transit of food content in the intestines, contributing to intensified bowel movements.
A similar situation can be especially dangerous for people with sensitive digestive systems and stomach problems. It can result in stomach aches and diarrhea, and even lead to inflammation.
People suffering from pancreatitis, inflammation of the intestines and bile ducts, or patients with duodenal or stomach ulcers should avoid such combinations.
This doesn't mean they cannot eat cherries. It is possible, but one should remember to treat these fruits as a standalone snack between meals.
Cherries provide a supply of vitamin C
It is worth noting that cherries contain a lot of vitamin C and polyphenols, essential for maintaining healthy skin.
Cherries are also rich in folic acid, vitamins A, E, and K, and various minerals—calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, iodine, zinc, and phosphorus. They support the function of the heart and thyroid.
