Did the kidnapper photograph Madeleine McCann? Police search for hard drives

The police are on the hunt for hard drives and storage devices that may contain photos of Madeleine McCann, who went missing years ago. As per Portuguese sources, the suspected kidnapper, Christian B., is believed to have kept these materials as "trophies".

Investigators leading the Madeleine McCann case posit that the suspect might have taken photographs of the abducted girl. It has been reported that Christian B. saved these images on discs, supposedly as mementos of the crime.

Detectives had hoped to uncover the initial storage devices during their recent search. Unfortunately, no concrete evidence was located, neither in Portugal nor Germany.

"We now know that Christian B. concealed storage devices, like hard drives and USBs, at every location he inhabited. We had high hopes for the lake search. Despite not uncovering anything, there's prevailing optimism. We think he might have produced duplicates, considering his tendency to keep them as trophies," a police source told "The Sun".

Madeleine disappeared in May 2007 in Praia da Luz, Portugal. On the 3rd of May, her parents left her and her siblings at home while they dined with friends.

Upon returning, Kate and Gerry were horrified to find their daughter missing. The police were alerted immediately, initiating the subsequent search. To this day, the events of that night remain a mystery and Madeleine’s whereabouts are unknown.

In September 2007, police started suspecting that Madeleine's parents were connected with her disappearance. However, the basis for this suspicion proved futile. For several ensuing years, no additional suspects emerged, leading to a stalemate in the case.

A significant breakthrough was reached in 2020 when another suspect was identified. This is Christian B., currently serving a sentence for rape of an elderly woman. A German national, he was employed at the resort where the disappearance transpired. On the night of May 3, his mobile phone was recorded near the McCann's apartment. Christian B. remains non-compliant with the charges.
