Search teams scouring the remote park in Tenerife stumbled upon a Scottish tourist who got lost in the mountainous terrain. This extraordinary discovery happened amid intensive searches for 19-year-old Jay, who went missing over a week ago.

On Friday, while searching the area around the Rural de Teno park, the police came across a 51-year-old Scottish tourist. The man had lost himself in difficult terrain unsuitable for travel. "Exhausted and disoriented, officers found him and a rescue team who helped him out of the ravine," the police reported.

Drones, sniffer dogs, and helicopters have been searching the Rural de Teno park and its surroundings since over a week ago, when 19-year-old Jay from the United Kingdom went missing. Most efforts have been focused on the extremely challenging terrain of the Masca ravine, where the teenager's phone made its last connection with a nearby cell tower at 8:50 AM ET on June 17.

Jay made his last desperate call to his friend Lucy Law on Monday morning, stating that he was lost in the middle of nowhere, without water, and with just one percent battery left on his phone.

Yesterday, the police extended the search to the "vast" desert landscape north of where Jay was last seen. The Civil Guard officers confirmed that they are also searching the forest paths and trails north of the ravine in the Rural de Teno park.

Desperate search for the missing boy in Tenerife

Warren, the father of the missing boy, broke down in an interview with The Sun, saying that his family is going through absolute hell. "I just want them to find him. I just want to get my son back, period. What more can I say? It has been a week, a week without any news. Someone somewhere must know something. Someone. This is hell on earth; you can't explain it. Please, please, please, if anyone knows anything, come forward and help us. I don't know if something bad has happened to Jay. One moment he was here, and the next he was gone. I don't believe he is still on that mountain. The police have done everything to find him. It is gloomy and desolate there. The authorities have done everything they could in this search, everyone is looking for him" Warren appealed.

The man was putting up posters with the image of his missing son in the village of Santiago del Teide. He also shared footage from CCTV, which he believes might show Jay. It shows a mysterious figure walking past the church in Santiago del Teide last Monday around 6:00 PM — a few hours after the boy was reported missing. The village is located about 4 miles from the village of Masca, where Jay disappeared a week ago.

The police have not yet confirmed the identity of the person in the footage. However, Jay's mother hopes that the man who reported seeing someone matching her son's description, sitting on a bench with two men in the same area, indeed saw her missing son.
