Dennis Quaid's fire evacuation interrupted by interview chaos
Internet users are outraged by the behavior of NBC Los Angeles reporter Robert Kovacik, who conducted an interview with Dennis Quaid while the actor was packing to evacuate from the burning area of Brentwood, California.
Robert Kovacik stopped Dennis Quaid just as he attempted to pack his belongings and leave a home threatened by the fires. Fans reacted strongly to the situation, expressing their dissatisfaction on social media. "Not them interviewing Dennis Quaid while he frantically tries to pack his belongings to evacuate [crying emoji]," wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).
Quaid was terrified by the dangerous situation, but he still appealed to residents to turn off their gas before leaving their homes. He also emphasized how quickly reality can change in the face of a natural disaster. "Our experience of reality can change in a moment" he noted.
The actor returned to his home with his dog Peaches to spray the roof and help neighbors if needed. It was then that the reporter approached him. "So we’ve had it lucky. I have so many friends who have lost—my agent, he lost both of his houses, and another good friend over at Palisades, he just moved into a house and was renting the other one," added the actor.
Internet users appreciated Quaid's attitude. "This interview was a strange mix of comedy and emotion, but I learned from it that Dennis Quaid is a very nice guy," wrote one fan. Another stated, "I became an instant fan of Quaid. He is an amazing man, especially for lovingly caring for his scared dog in such a stressful moment."
Fires in Los Angeles
A fire in nearby Pacific Palisades broke out on Tuesday and has since consumed over 50,000 acres of land. Although the area was initially safe, an evacuation order was issued for Brentwood and neighboring Encino on Saturday morning.
According to recent reports, the Palisades fire was 11 percent contained by Saturday morning and has destroyed over 5,300 buildings.
