Shipping containers lose their load on Danish beaches

The Danish navy command has since released a warning for ships sailing in these waters. Nonetheless, cleaning up the items washed up by the sea due to the storm could take several months. There is a reported total of 46 containers drifting at sea. While four have already come ashore, the rest drift close to the cities of Hanstholm and Skagen.

Danish beaches are now heavily littered with items that slipped from the containers. The debris includes refrigerators, televisions, shoes, and even syringes packed in plastic bags. Thomas Durloo, from the coastguard, remarked, "There are tens of thousands of shoes. It's like a sea of them."

Police share unsettling images of the cleanup operation online

Local police have advised residents and tourists walking in the area against taking any objects they find on the beach. This action might lead to accusations of theft. The police have shared numerous images from the beach cleanup operation online, which are quite unsettling to behold.

The floating containers in the North Sea pose a severe issue for local fishermen. This is because they have the potential to damage trawlers and fishing nets. Furthermore, the fishermen have highlighted that fishing during the New Year is especially crucial for their income.
