Denmark rallies European support to counter Trump's Greenland bid
Denmark is doing everything possible to dissuade Trump from wanting to take control of Greenland. The country's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, announced that she has received support from "European leaders."
In recent weeks, Trump has discussed the need for the USA to assume control of Greenland. He has not ruled out using force or economic pressure, such as tariffs, against Denmark. His statements have sparked outrage in many Western countries, especially in Denmark, which administers Greenland.
Prime Minister Frederiksen shared that the president of France is one of the European leaders supporting her opposition to Trump's plans. After meeting with Emmanuel Macron, she emphasized that she received "great support" from him on this issue.
She stressed that the people of Greenland "do not want to be Americans," although they are open to cooperation with the USA. The matter is straightforward: The territory and sovereignty of nations must be respected.
Scholz outraged by Trump's remarks. Strong words exchanged
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz highlighted in the context of Trump's statements that "borders cannot be shifted by force".
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Robert Brieger, stated that it would benefit EU military forces to be stationed in Greenland alongside American troops for global security.
