A dangerous situation unfolded at Los Angeles International Airport when two aircraft nearly collided during a routine takeoff. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has initiated an investigation into the event involving Delta Air Lines flight DL471 and a Key Lime Air charter plane transporting the Gonzaga basketball team.

Nerve-wracking minutes

The incident occurred as the Delta aircraft began its takeoff procedure, while the Key Lime Air charter plane was moving off the runway. An air traffic controller issued an urgent stop command, preventing a potential disaster at takeoff speeds ranging from 150 to 180 miles per hour.

A video of the incident, which surfaced online, shows the controller issuing urgent commands over the radio, instructing one of the planes to stop. The recording captures the controller shouting "stop, stop, stop." The Delta flight continued its journey to Atlanta without further incidents.

Delta Airlines is proceeding cautiously regarding this matter. A spokesperson for the airline told Fox News Digital that flight 471 followed standard procedures. Although Delta is cooperating with aviation authorities, it has not yet received formal notice of the FAA investigation.
