Delight in summer with this easy strawberry mousse
When strawberries start appearing in stores, it's time to prepare a dessert. Instead of blending them into a smoothie, I turn them into a delicious foam.
Strawberries impress with their sweetness, allure with their fragrance, and evoke memories of summer. The season typically begins in May and lasts until July, so it's worth taking full advantage of it. The first baskets are already showing up at stalls, and more will arrive each week. This will bring prices down, allowing you to enjoy them without worrying about your wallet. I transform strawberries into a fluffy mousse that delights with its delicacy. It's a great alternative to an intense mousse or a time-consuming cake.
Strawberry mousse
This dessert combines the fruity, bold flavor of strawberry mousse with the lightness of whipped cream. It's all enhanced with an extra serving of fresh strawberries, which serve as a delicious decoration. The preparation is truly quick, allowing you to enjoy the taste of summer captured in a cup without much delay.
Vegetarians and vegans can substitute gelatin with agar. For 1 teaspoon of gelatin, typically 0.5 to 2 teaspoons of agar are used. It's important to remember that it sets even faster, so be prompt with mixing. However, it's a good gelatin substitute, boasting a very neutral taste and smell.
Ingredients:
- About 1 pound of fresh strawberries
- 3-4 tablespoons of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1 and 1/4 cups of chilled heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon of gelatin
- 2 tablespoons of water
Preparation method:
- Wash the strawberries, remove the stems, and set them aside to drain.
- Blend them and press through a sieve to remove seeds. If the texture with tiny pieces doesn't bother you, you can skip the sieving.
- Dissolve the gelatin in cold water and set aside for a few minutes to swell.
- Then heat it until it dissolves completely.
- Whip the cream until stiff, along with the powdered sugar.
- Add a few tablespoons of the strawberry puree to the dissolved and cooled gelatin and mix well.
- Pour the gelatin mixture into the remaining strawberry puree, mix, and add to the whipped cream.
- Gently combine the ingredients and transfer them to glass cups or glasses.
- Place in the refrigerator for a few hours to set.
Decorate the finished dessert with fresh strawberries. You can also add a dollop of whipped cream or combine the strawberry mousse with a chocolate one. Enjoy!
