Delicious homemade crispy waffles: A taste of street food at home
Crispy waffles are one of the most popular desserts in street food, especially by the sea, where booths offering these sweet treats have become a staple in the landscape. Although recreating waffles that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside may seem particularly difficult, with the right recipe, it is quite possible.

With powdered sugar, chocolate, and whipped cream—there are plenty of options for toppings, and various booths compete not only in creativity but also in prices. An alternative to overpaying in the city is making waffles yourself at home. Not only is this much cheaper, but you also don’t have to wait for vacation to enjoy a delicious waffle.
Crispy waffles like by the sea
Many waffle booths use ready-made mixes, which sometimes contain questionable ingredients. In homemade waffles, you won’t find anything unusual, just flour, sugar, milk, baking powder, and eggs. However, getting the proportions right will make the waffles simply perfect.
It is important that the waffle iron is really well preheated. The higher its power, the crispier the waffles will be. After baking, it's best to place the waffles vertically on an oven rack. This ensures proper air circulation and prevents them from becoming too soft.
Ingredients:
- 10.5 oz of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 2 cups of milk
- 2 eggs
Additional ingredients:
- 7 oz of cold milk
- 1 packet of whipped cream powder
- Favorite fruits, e.g., raspberries, blueberries
Preparation:
Step 1. In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, and baking powder. Crack the eggs and add them along with the milk, mixing until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
Step 2. Using a ladle, pour portions of the batter into a well-heated waffle iron. Bake until they turn golden brown. The time will depend on the power of the device you are using.
Step 3. While the waffles are baking, prepare the toppings. Pour the whipped cream powder into a bowl and mix it with the cold milk. Wash and dry the fruits. Waffles with whipped cream and fruits are my favorite combination, but you can also opt for other toppings like jam, powdered sugar, or chocolate.
Step 4. Serve the baked waffles with whipped cream and fruits. Enjoy!
