A frozen windshield can ruin your morning, especially when you're in a hurry. Plastic ice scrapers are slowly becoming outdated, making way for spray products. Simply spray, wait a moment, and remove the frost with minimal effort. You don't have to search for a store-bought solution—you can make a similar product at home.
How to quickly defrost car windows?
Scraping windows is tedious, but it can be significantly simplified. Just use a common kitchen item to quickly and effectively get rid of ice. No more overpaying for expensive products.
Mix 3 cups of vinegar with 1 cup of lukewarm water and pour it into a spray bottle. Take the prepared solution with you to the car. When the windshield freezes, spray it with the mixture and wait a few minutes. After that, use an ice scraper or turn on the wipers to remove the ice and frost. Thanks to the vinegar and water mixture, it will start to melt, becoming soft and easy to remove.
How does it work? The chemical properties of vinegar make it an effective ice remover. By lowering the freezing point of water, it speeds up the melting of ice and frost. Additionally, it creates a protective layer on the windshield that can delay refreezing.
However, be careful not to spray the vinegar solution directly on the bodywork. Its acidic nature can contribute to paint damage over the long term.
Reach for pickle juice
You can achieve a similar effect with pickle juice. Like vinegar, the salt in it lowers the freezing point of water, thereby speeding up the defrosting process. Pour pickle juice into a spray bottle, spray the windshield, and wait a moment. This unconventional trick can save you from laborious scraping.
When the temperature rises above freezing, head to a car wash to remove any residue of pickle juice or vinegar. This way, you'll take comprehensive care of your car.
