- Syrian state media reported an Israeli attack on facilities near Aleppo, which "resulted in numerous fatalities and certain material losses," Reuters reported. AFP, citing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), stated that preliminary estimates indicate the attack on a factory in the town of Hajjan, north of Aleppo, killed 12 pro-Iranian fighters, including Syrians and foreigners.
- A police officer attacked by a knife-wielding assailant in the market in Mannheim, southwest Germany, has died from his injuries. "I am deeply shaken by the death of the police officer who bravely intervened in Mannheim to protect human life," stated German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Authorities reported that the incident occurred on Friday. The officer intervened during the knife attack, which also injured five other people.
- An earthquake magnitude of 5.9 struck central Japan on Monday morning local time, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported. No tsunami warning has been issued, and no reports of casualties or damage are reported. The tremors were mainly felt on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, where an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 in early January this year caused the deaths of 241 people and severe damage.
- 18 people were injured by a lightning strike during a storm in the northern Czech Republic. Rescuers on the scene resuscitated five people. Among the wounded are children. The resuscitations conducted on-site were successful. One of the injured was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Prague. All the injured were taken to medical facilities.
- 38 candidates running for public office in Sunday’s elections in Mexico were killed. The latest murdered politician was killed shortly before the polling stations opened in the west of the country. According to the Mexican police, the murdered individual is 35-year-old Israel Delgado Vega, who was running for a city council seat in Cuitzeo, in Michoacan state. He was shot on the street by two men who fled the scene on a motorcycle.
