Ukrainian forces target refinery in Volgograd
On Sunday morning, Ukrainska Pravda, citing Russian media and officials, reported that a Ukrainian strike had targeted a refinery in Volgograd, igniting a fire. The incident involved an attack drone.
Russian reports state that the drone involved in the Volgograd refinery incident "crashed at the site" of the facility. The resulting fire was quickly extinguished, with no casualties reported. It is claimed that electronic countermeasures brought down the drone but crashed near the refinery, causing a fire. This narrative—that all Ukrainian drone strikes are successfully countered—is commonly presented by Russian authorities.
On Saturday, citing military intelligence sources, Ukrainian media reported a successful drone strike on the Lukoil refinery in Volgograd.
