Navalny's Death

The announcement of Alexei Navalny's death was made on Friday, February 16, with the Russian authorities being the first to issue a statement. The news was quickly picked up by both Russian and international media. A report stated that the opposition leader had been imprisoned in a penal colony beyond the Arctic Circle, and that he had fainted during a walk. Despite attempts at resuscitation, his life could not be saved.

The opposition leader's spokesperson confirmed these reports on Saturday. "Alexei Navalny was murdered. His death occurred on February 16 at 14:17 local time, according to the official message delivered to Alexei's mother", Kira Yarmysh announced through service X around noon on Saturday.
