"Wonder Man" has had prior appearances in Marvel comics. At present, an action series based on those comics is being produced for Disney+. Confirmed actors include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (from the "Aquaman" duology and "Matrix: Resurrections"), Ben Kingsley ("Iron Man 3"), and Lauren Glazier ("Mindhunter"). The narrative revolves around Hollywood actor Simon Williams who, after gaining extraordinary powers, enters the world of superheroes as Wonder Man. Yet, disaster has recently stalled production.
What occurred during the "Wonder Man" on-set tragedy?
As reported by "The Hollywood Reporter" on Tuesday, February 6, a dangerous accident occurred at Radford Studios. Despite it not being a filming day, there were many people on-site for preproduction work.
One of the workers tragically plummeted from the rafters, suffering severe injuries that led to his death.
According to media reports, the California Department of Safety and Health has launched an investigation into the accident to identify and eliminate potential risks to others' health or lives.
A Marvel representative released a statement expressing their deepest condolences, "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and friends, and we are committed to assisting the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this accident," as stated in the report.
When can we expect the premiere of "Wonder Man"?
The series is being helmed by the duo of Destin Daniel Cretton ("Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"), the producer who is also likely to direct episodes, and Andrew Guest, known for "Community" and "30 Rockefeller Plaza," who oversees the plot.
Like many other productions, this series too faced delays due to actors and scriptwriters' strikes that persisted for several months the previous year. Currently, the series' Disney+ debut date is uncertain, although there's a possibility it may be this year.
