Czech Republic wants to have a true monster in the sky. Here comes C‑390 Millennium

The Czech Republic has begun negotiations with the Brazilian conglomerate Embraer regarding the acquisition of C-390 Millennium airplanes. According to the local ministry of defense, there are several arguments in favor of the chosen design.
Currently, the army of the Czech Republic does not have a long-range transport aircraft of such dimensions. The C-390 Millennium is significantly set to increase the potential of the country in terms of air transport of materials, heavy military equipment, and personnel. At present, the Czechs must rely on the equipment of allied countries or limit themselves to their own, but smaller, planes (mainly CASA C-295, of which they have six).

Prague is committed to the C-390 Millennium and is interested in purchasing two units. The signing of the final contract will depend on the course of negotiations and the price demanded by the Brazilian manufacturer.
The Czech Defense Minister, Jana Černochová, said that in addition to the capabilities of the aircraft, price, relatively short delivery time, and the possibility of engaging domestic companies (AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE has been involved in the production of components for these Brazilian aircraft for several years) are of great significance.
- The Ministry of Defense has long sought to engage the Czech defense industry in all strategic projects. Supporting the domestic industry is one of the most important interests of the Czech Republic, while at the same time it falls within the new defensive strategy. Good army supply will ensure us strong and reliable defense. We want not only the army, but also our citizens to benefit from military contracts - for example, by expanding employment opportunities - said Černochová.
How much cargo can the C-390 Millennium carry?
In addition to extensive transportation capabilities, the C-390 Millennium has a fire extinguishing system and the ability to take off and land from unhardened runways. It also has self-defense systems. These are further points in the specifications, which Czech authorities mention in the context of choosing exactly this aircraft.
The C-390 Millennium is often presented as a competitor to the American C-130 Hercules. The Brazilian transporter measures 115.5 ft in length and over 39.4 ft in height. With a capacity for over 20 tons of cargo, it has two International Aero Engines V2500-E5 and is capable of reaching speeds up to 540 miles per hour and an altitude of up to approximately 36,000 feet.
