The military parade and 'Immortal Regiment' march, usually held in the Republic of Crimea on May 9th, have been canceled due to security concerns. Despite this, Aksyonov emphasized on Telegram that Crimea would still find ways to honor Victory Day appropriately, paying tribute to veterans and remembering the fallen through various ceremonies.
Reflecting on the situation in Crimea, it's relevant to mention Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's prediction in a January interview with "The Economist." He foresaw that Crimea and the Black Sea region would become pivotal conflict zones by 2024.
Zelensky highlighted the strategic importance of isolating occupied Crimea and diminishing Russian military capabilities there as crucial for Ukraine. This strategy aims to reduce the number of attacks originating from the region. He insisted that Russia must recognize the military significance of Crimea to Ukraine.
