Cottage cheese rolls: The high-protein breakfast sensation

Beloved by dietitians and athletes, cottage cheese is a common breakfast ingredient, appealing not only to physically active people. You might put it on a sandwich or enjoy it as a snack, perhaps with honey and dried fruits. It tastes great in both savory and sweet versions. Cottage cheese can also serve as the base for preparing delicious breakfast rolls.

Dreaming of fresh rolls straight from the oven? Contrary to what you might think, making them at home is much simpler than expected. You can knead the cottage cheese dough in just 5 minutes, and after 20 minutes, you'll have delicious and soft rolls ready from the oven. This bread not only tastes great but is also healthy.

Cottage cheese – who benefits from this high-protein product?

Cottage cheese is a product that enjoys great popularity both among athletes and people who prioritize a healthy diet. Thanks to its high protein content, it is an ideal choice for physically active individuals who need building materials for muscle regeneration.

It is also an excellent option in the diets of older people and children, providing them with essential amino acids for growth and tissue repair. Cottage cheese is easy to digest, making it a suitable product for anyone seeking easily absorbable sources of protein for everyday consumption.

Other valuable ingredients in the rolls

Flaxseed is another valuable ingredient that enriches these rolls. The seeds are a rich source of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and lignans. Fiber supports the proper functioning of the digestive system by helping to regulate digestion. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for heart and brain health, and their regular consumption can contribute to reducing inflammation in the body.

Lignans found in flaxseed also exhibit antioxidant properties, helping protect cells from oxidative stress. Adding flaxseed to the rolls makes them not only tasty but also health-promoting.

How to make cottage cheese rolls?

I discovered this recipe from Kamila, who runs an Instagram profile called @soo.good.food. The specified proportions yield 4 breakfast rolls.

Ingredients:

  • 7 oz cottage cheese,
  • 0.7 oz oil,
  • 1 egg,
  • half a teaspoon of salt,
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda,
  • 7 oz flour,
  • 0.7 oz flaxseed.

Instructions:

  1. Transfer the cottage cheese, oil, and egg into a blender cup. Blend until smooth.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl. Add flour, baking soda, flaxseed, and a large pinch of salt. Knead the dough by hand and divide it into 4 parts.
  3. Form balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.
