A modest ceremony
The Ministry of Culture, responsible for organizing the coronation, reported that 50.3 million pounds (63 million dollars) were allocated for the ceremony itself, with an additional 21.7 million pounds (27 million dollars) spent on police security. In comparison to Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022, which cost 162 million pounds (203 million dollars), the coronation was significantly more modest.
The decision to reduce costs aimed to reflect modern times and consider the financial difficulties facing the kingdom.
The coronation attracted significant media interest worldwide. According to the Ministry of Culture, more than 100,000 articles were written about the event, and the broadcast was watched by 2 billion people in 125 countries.
