Keeping the sink clean can be challenging, especially when blockages occur. Unclogging the drain can require time and significant effort. If the problem has been neglected, it might require tools, harsh chemicals, or even a plumber. Therefore, it's best to act early. You only need to combine a few products from the kitchen cupboard to clear the drain quickly.

To avoid blockages, it's worth regularly cleaning the sink and avoiding throwing larger food scraps, such as pits or grounds, into it. This way, the sink won't get clogged, and unpleasant odors won't deter household members. However, if you notice that the drain allows less water, you should take action. A mixture with ingredients we have on hand will work best.

In a glass container, pour in 2 ounces of dish soap, add a tablespoon of salt, and half a cup of vinegar. Pour a tablespoon of baking soda into the drain, followed by the mixture. Leave it overnight, and in the morning, rinse with hot water. It's worth performing this treatment twice a month to keep the drain unclogged.

Homemade ways to unclog a sink

Homemade methods, such as using citric acid, are effective and environmentally friendly. Thanks to its dissolving properties, Citric acid quickly removes deposits and fats without damaging the pipes.

Another proven method is a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. The combination of these ingredients creates a chemical reaction that effectively dissolves blockages. Simply pour baking soda into the drain, add vinegar, and after 30 minutes, rinse with hot water.

Homemade methods of unclogging a sink are not only effective but also eco-friendly. By avoiding aggressive chemicals, we maintain the pipes' cleanliness and household members' health. The sink will remain unclogged and clean thanks to simple tricks, like using citric acid or baking soda.
