Despite numerous scientific studies showing the positive impact of coffee on our health, not every type of coffee is beneficial. Coffee with a popular addition can cause hormonal imbalances, leading to hair loss problems. How does this happen?

We often don't realise how even small habits affect our hormonal balance. For example, drinking coffee every day between breakfast and lunch. Is it a good choice? "Yes, but without milk," say the dietitians.

For people with insulin resistance, such as in the case of polycystic ovary syndrome, it is crucial to maintain regular, well-balanced meals and avoid snacks in between, including some drinks! – emphasise the experts.

However, this is not the end of the adverse effects of drinking coffee with milk. This drink can also affect fertility. Dietitians warn that high insulin levels contribute to increased synthesis of androgens and decreased synthesis of SHBG.

SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin) is a protein produced in the liver that transports hormones such as dihydrotestosterone, testosterone, and estradiol in the blood. Testing for this protein is indicated in the diagnosis of hormonal disorders.

It's worth mentioning that there are many other factors that lower SHBG levels. Among the most crucial health issues affecting this are inflammation, hypothyroidism, and metabolic disorders.

Exceeding the normal levels of androgens in the body can negatively affect health. Excess male hormones can lead to hair thinning or even baldness. Therefore, it is worth listening to experts to avoid hair-related problems. Additionally, women may struggle with menstrual disorders or acne.
