Food remnants, coffee grounds, oil, fat, stubble, dried facial mask - very little is needed for a drain to become clogged. In such situations, there's no need to panic. You just need to take action as quickly as possible before an unpleasant smell starts to come from the drain.

What to pour into your drain to unclog it quickly

A clogged sink can be a real annoyance, creating obstacles during daily basics activities like cleaning, washing hands, and cooking. It's rare for a sink to get clogged suddenly and without reason.

More often than not, it's a build-up of dirt that causes the problem. That's why it's so crucial not to remove the drain's sieve, especially in kitchen sinks.

When a drain becomes clogged, many folks resort to a pipe unclogger. Although this method is effective, one needs to exercise caution. Pipe uncloggers are potent irritants that give off harmful vapors. They should not be used when there are animals or people, especially young children, in the house. Also, they tend to emit a very intense and unpleasant odor.

A safer option is to rely on baking soda to unclog the pipes. Just pour two packets of baking soda into the drain and leave it for about 15—20 minutes.

Then, proceed to pour boiling water down the drain. The combination of soda and hot water should be able to eliminate the dirt accumulated in the pipes.

To make the baking soda more effective, consider adding vinegar. The chemical reaction between these ingredients makes them work even more effectively. How to unclog a drain with vinegar and baking soda?

Simply pour two packets of baking soda into the drain and then pour a cup of vinegar on top. After five minutes, pour half a liter (around 2 cups) of warm water into the sink. This method is not only useful for clogged drains but can be carried out every two weeks as a preventative measure.
