Cleaning heat-resistant dishes: From baking soda magic to vinegar remedy

Different people have varying approaches when it comes to cleaning heat-resistant dishes. Some wash them immediately after removing the food, allowing the burnt food to soften, while others defer the cleaning to later. Unfortunately, the latter method isn't always successful since dried dirt can be pretty stubborn to remove.

Cleaning a heat-resistant dish effectively

A homemade solution often works best to remove stubborn, dried food residues. Here's what you need to do: sprinkle baking soda on all stains and dirt. Next, spray water onto it (using a spray bottle would be most convenient). Allow the baking soda to work its magic for about an hour. After this time, start cleaning the dish using a sponge. You'll see that the food and dirt come off quickly with minimal scrubbing. Further, baking soda helps absorb the smell of burning. Lastly, rinse the dish thoroughly with water.

Using vinegar and lemon for burnt residues

If your heat-resistant dish has charred areas, vinegar can be really helpful. The first step involves mixing three tablespoons of vinegar with 3/4 cup of water. Heat this mixture in a pot until it comes to a boil. Pour the hot solution into the dirty dish and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Next, use a sponge to clean the dish. Rinse it thoroughly with water once all the residue is gone.

An alternative solution involves using lemon. Initially, thoroughly sprinkle table salt over the dirty dish. Squeeze lemon juice over it and let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes. Then take half a lemon and start scouring the dish with the mixture of salt and lemon juice. Remove any remaining dirt and wash the dish thoroughly with water.

Maintaining a heat-resistant dish

To prevent any damage during cleaning, bear in mind the following rules:

When removing food residues, use wooden spoons or silicone spatulas. Do not use metal utensils like forks or knives to scrape the bottom of the dish.

Avoid using wire brushes, rough sponges, or other abrasive tools for cleaning.
