Clean your washing machine to keep clothes fresh and fragrant
Regularly cleaning your washing machine is crucial not only for its maintenance but also for achieving effective laundry results. If your washing machine isn't working as well as it used to and your clothes have an unpleasant smell, it's a sign that you need to address one critical area.
Unfortunately, many people who regularly use a washing machine forget to clean it. This is a significant oversight that can lead not only to potential damage and the need to buy new equipment but also to poorly performed laundry.
Clean this part of the washing machine
If stains aren't coming out of your clothes despite washing, and they have an unpleasant odor, it's time to clean the washing machine filter. The area where "residue" such as hair and debris collects should be cleaned regularly. Only then will your laundry be fresh and fragrant.
How do you clean the filter? It's a very simple process. First, place a few old cloths or towels under the washing machine filter opening. Then, slowly unscrew the filter so that the water escapes in a thin stream. Remove the filter only when the water stops flowing. Finally, clean the opening and the filter, getting rid of any "residue."
Cleaning the drum, seals, and detergent drawer
Washing machine owners should also remember to clean other areas of the machine, such as the drum, seals, and detergent drawer.
Vinegar and baking soda can be used to clean the drum. To remove dirt, pour half a cup of baking soda directly into the washing machine drum. Pour a cup of vinegar into the detergent or liquid compartment. Then, run the washing machine on the highest temperature setting. This combination will help remove mineral deposits, mold, and bacteria and neutralize unpleasant odors.
The door seals should be wiped regularly with a mixture of water and vinegar or a mild detergent. To do this, dip a cloth into a solution of water and vinegar (1:1) and thoroughly clean all the nooks and crannies of the seal. You can use a soft toothbrush if there are stubborn stains on the seals.
The detergent drawers can be removed and washed in water with baking soda or dish soap. Mold can be scrubbed away with an old toothbrush.
