Egypt did not agree to the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to the Gaza Strip - reported AP agency on Thursday morning Eastern Time. Earlier, the media had announced the possibility of opening a border crossing for civilians from the Gaza Strip.

The government in Cairo rejected all such proposals - said a high-ranking Egyptian official early Thursday morning Eastern Time.

The official confirmed that discussions were had with Israel and the United States about establishing safe corridors within the Gaza Strip and providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.

An Egyptian official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, commented on John Kirby's statement. The White House National Security spokesperson said that the Joe Biden administration is actively discussing to ensure the safe exit of civilians from Gaza Strip.

Egyptian state media maintains that the Israeli offensive is part of a plan to displace the population from the Gaza Strip.

As reported earlier on Wednesday by the Palestinian Health Ministry, due to Israeli retaliatory strikes carried out since Saturday, about 1100 people have already been killed in the Gaza Strip, and nearly 5500 have been injured.
