CIA chief's secretive farewell visit to Ukraine amid tensions
Bill Burns, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, recently made his final visit to Ukraine as the head of the CIA. This information was shared by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, on social media. Zelensky emphasized that his meetings with Burns occurred in various locations worldwide, including Europe and America, always discreetly and without public notification. After the visit concluded, President Zelensky extended his well-wishes to Burns and his family.
President Zelensky noted that the details of the discussions with Burns will not be disclosed but reassured that contact between them will continue. He expressed hope for another meeting and highlighted their mutual goal of ending the war with true and lasting peace.
Zelensky also announced the continuation of attacks on Russian military targets, including bases and military infrastructure, which are used for terrorist activities against Ukraine.
International support for Ukraine
The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude to everyone supporting his country, especially those advocating for increased defense spending in Europe and the modernization of arsenals. He emphasized the importance of international support in the face of Russian aggression.
Bill Burns, the CIA Director, held a significant meeting in Kyiv, occurring ahead of possible new negotiations concerning the conflict with Russia. His visit is a response to Russia’s intensified actions in the Zaporizhzhia region, where Russian forces are planning an offensive involving 50,000 soldiers. However, Ukraine is ramping up its defense measures, ready to respond to aggression.
Russia is threatening Ukraine with the use of modern "Oreshnik" missile systems, adding another layer of pressure in the conflict. Vladimir Putin also warns of escalation, emphasizing the possibility of combat testing Russia's offensive capabilities. Both Ukrainian and Western military forces remain on high alert.
Simultaneously, a global debate continues regarding increased defense spending, particularly in the context of threats from Russia.
