Video footage of the suspect's arrest quickly spread on social media. It shows a man lying on the sidewalk next to a black car, surrounded by multiple police officers. The officers are instructing bystanders to stay back from the scene.
The perpetrator was apprehended immediately after the attack. German media report that the driver traveled approximately 440 yards through the market. The center of Magdeburg was cordoned off, and emergency services continue to operate at the scene of the tragedy.
