"Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It's been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It's been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going," this was Christina Applegate's (then 50 years old) message to the world, fans, and the industry in August 2021. It was a fierce blow because the actress had already fought and won a battle with a deadly disease in the past. After a double mastectomy, she had recovered from cancer.
Today, Applegate speaks candidly about being angry at her diagnosis. "This is the worst thing that's happened to me in my entire life."
She records a podcast about living with multiple sclerosis with Jamie-Lynn Sigler (star of "The Sopranos"). They don’t shy away from complex topics that “aren't suitable” for magazine covers.
Christina Applegate has only undergone one plastic surgery
The star of "Married... with Children" revealed in one of the episodes that an internet troll accused her of drastically changing her face due to plastic surgery. She quickly "educated" the ignorant internet user: her face is changing due to the illness and vital medications. However, she now admits that she has indeed had contact with plastic surgery, and it was many years ago.
"I was on a show and one of the producers – a very famous (producer) who did a very famous show as well – said, ‘Hey, we’re having a lot of trouble lighting under your eyes. The bags under your eyes are so big.' (He said) get them removed," Applegate said, clarifying that she was 27 at the time and decided to undergo the procedure after this comment.
A quick look at the actress's filmography shows that during that time, Christina was starring in the series "Jessie." Who was the producer? Among others, David Crane and Marta Kauffman are the duo responsible for "Friends." Applegate could have been referring to both the producer and the producers.
The actress still holds it against this "mysterious person" for sowing a "seed of shame" in her. The latest production featuring the actress is the Netflix series "Dead to Me."
