The Chinese navy, known as the People's Liberation Army Navy, has introduced the new Type 054B Luohe frigate. The commissioning ceremony took place in Qingdao, where China's Northern Fleet is based. According to CNN, the vessel is expected to enhance the combat capabilities of the Chinese fleet, which is already the world's largest by number of ships.

The Luohe frigate, with a displacement of approximately 5,500 tons, is equipped with stealth technology, advanced combat command systems, and integrated armaments. Its weaponry includes machine guns for close-range combat, as well as anti-aircraft and anti-ship missiles. The Chinese navy asserts that the new frigate will significantly improve the combat efficiency of its forces.

China's growing military power

China, which has approximately 234 warships, including 50 frigates, is striving to increase its maritime presence, especially in the South China Sea, notes CNN. Besides frigates, the Chinese fleet includes 50 destroyers, two operational aircraft carriers, with a third undergoing sea trials, and a massive coast guard.

The growing activity of the Chinese fleet is perceived as a challenge to the USA, which has 219 ships. Even though China may lose more units in war simulations, it is still capable of continuing its efforts, showcasing its growing military strength.
