China urges restraint amid rising India-Pakistan tensions
China is ready to cooperate with the international community and will continue to play a constructive role in easing tensions, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson stated on Wednesday. Lin Jian referenced the recent Indian attack on Pakistan.
Lin, citing a previously published statement from the Ministry of Diplomacy, reiterated during a press briefing that Beijing "China regrets India's military action" and is "concerned" about the development of the situation.
The spokesperson also advised Chinese citizens in the region to increase awareness of the threats associated with the conflict and to avoid traveling to areas affected by military actions.
Operation Sindoor
India's Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that, as part of retaliatory actions for the April terrorist attack, which killed 26 people, they shelled "terrorist infrastructure" sites in Pakistan and the part of contested Kashmir administered by that country.
The authorities in Islamabad described the attacks as a "blatant act of war." According to the latest reports, 36 people were killed in the clashes several hours ago—26 in Pakistan and 10 in India.
