In the last days of May 2025, the Chinese army began deploying the modern ZTL-19 armored vehicles. These 8x8 wheeled assault vehicles are part of the land forces' modernization program. The ZTL-19 is based on a modified version of the Type 19 infantry fighting vehicle, which evolved from earlier designs like the ZTL-11.

The ZTL-19 is notable for its modern armament, which includes a 105 mm low-recoil gun. This gun, constructed from advanced materials, offers enhanced precision and reliability. It is compatible with various types of ammunition, including armor-piercing and laser-guided projectiles, enabling precise attacks on both land and sea targets.

The vehicle also features increased mobility due to a new drive system and automatic transmission. The ZTL-19 is equipped with water propulsion systems, allowing it to reach speeds of 5-6 mph in aquatic environments, thus expanding its operational range in coastal areas.

In terms of protection, the ZTL-19 boasts an advanced armor system that combines high-strength steel with modular composite elements. The vehicle provides protection against 7.62 mm caliber rounds and partial protection against larger threats, enhancing its survivability on the battlefield.

The integration of the ZTL-19 into the Chinese army's ground forces reflects a shift in military doctrine toward wheeled platforms that combine strategic mobility with firepower and protection. This vehicle is a key element in the restructuring of the Chinese armed forces as they adapt to modern operational requirements.

The ZTL-19 addresses the needs of Chinese ground forces, which emphasize operational efficiency and flexibility in various tactical scenarios, according to the Army Recognition portal. With its modern weaponry and advanced mobility systems, this vehicle represents a significant component of China's defense strategy.
