The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has firmly denied the statement by U.S. President Donald Trump, who claimed in an interview with "Time" magazine that he recently had a phone conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

The spokesperson also mentioned that "China and the United States are not conducting consultations or negotiations regarding tariffs." He stated that such dialogue is possible, but only if it is based on mutual respect and equality.

Trump on talks with China

In an interview with "Time" magazine, Donald Trump stated that he is conducting talks with China regarding a trade deal and that Xi Jinping supposedly called him about this matter. However, the U.S. President did not provide any details or the date of the alleged conversation.

The trade conflict between the U.S. and China intensified after the United States imposed tariffs on Chinese products, which are currently 145%. In response, China introduced tariffs of 125% on American goods.

The situation between the U.S. and China remains tense, and the lack of agreement on tariffs may lead to further escalation of the conflict. Both sides need to find common ground to avoid further economic tensions.
