Chicago shooting: 3 teenagers shot, one killed
Three students from CPS were shot, with one succumbing to their injuries, on Wednesday afternoon just a few blocks from their school on the North Side of the city.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, when three teenagers went for a walk.
- The victims were approached by a car from which several men got out and fired shots in their direction (...) One teen was killed, one is in critical condition, and the other is in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the leg - said Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling at a press conference.
The victims of the attack were students at Nicholas Senn High School, aged 15 and 16.
The mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, also commented on the matter - A loss of life is horrific under all circumstances, but it is especially harsh when our young people are targeted (...) We do everything in our power to keep our children safe. So this hurts, and I know our city is hurting - Chicago Mayor said.
Chicago authorities have promised to find the perpetrators responsible for this horrible attack. - The individuals who are responsible for this kind of violence have to end. Whatever conflict, whatever pain you are expressing, this is not the way to do it. The loss of life is tearing at the fabric of this city - said Johnson.
- We must push back against this type of violence, arrogance (...) We will hold violent criminals accountable. I can promise you that - argued Superintendent Larry Snelling.
