In the Lviv region of Ukraine, more officials have been detained for taking bribes in exchange for issuing rulings on military service incapacity; one of the caught red-handed officials tried to eat the physical evidence in the form of a hundred-dollar bill - reported the Ukrainska Pravda portal, citing information from the State Investigation Bureau of Ukraine.

Officials of the Intergovernmental Commission of Medical and Social Experts in Sambir and the City Hospital in Turka in the Lviv region demanded a bribe from a soldier for granting his father a second disability group, which would allow the soldier to avoid conscription.

She wanted to eat the money

Officials promised to issue the necessary documents for 3,200 dollars. It turned out that the 42-year-old head of the medical and social research center, the 42-year-old head of the medical advisory committee, and his 59-year-old deputy organized a scheme to obtain illegal income in exchange for granting disability status to individuals subject to military service duty.

The prosecutor's office claims that for $3,200, a potential "patient" could have received disability status.

In the discussed case, the officials received the money in three installments. While handing over the last one, law enforcement officers arrested a 59-year-old woman in the city of Turka caught in the act. During the arrest, the female official tried to get rid of the money by eating a hundred-dollar bill, but law enforcement officers prevented her from doing so. The other members of the gang were also arrested.

"Applications are being prepared for the use of pre-trial detention and suspension from official duties. The detainees face a penalty of up to 10 years of imprisonment and confiscation of property" - wrote Ukrainian Truth.
