Surprising news has reached filmographic and entertainment portals around the world. It turns out that the Hollywood star Cate Blanchett, known for her roles in romantic comedies and Woody Allen movies, will take part in a production based on a... video game.
Subtle, graceful, elegant. Now, she will participate in a movie based on the Borderlands video game. But in the trailer, she exceeded everyone's expectations. She looked amazingly fitting for her role and gracefully suitable for the sudden change in her statue-like pose known from, for instance, the Blue Jasmine, where she played the ex-wife of a wealthy businessman and criminalist.
The Game
The Borderlands game is a well-known classic among gamers. Its first part had been released in 2009 by the studio Gearbox Software. It instantly became a very admired game. The whole series of games followed. In 2012, the studio released the second part of the saga - Borderlands 2, followed by three other productions in subsequent years. The latest game from the universe is Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, released in 2022.
The game is about firing the gun. It is a so-called FPS, first-person shooter, meaning you run with a gun and shoot things. The game also has some RPG elements, meaning it has elements of open-world dynamics. It is probably this type of combination that gave the production its success. Moreover, the fans admire its unique atmosphere and style based on the classical American Western movies, but with very hard hipster-like modern-vintage and postapocalyptic twists. The characters are also very well designed, including the iconic Claptrap. Claptrap is a robot. He is driving around on his one-wheel and is very cute and relatable. He became a benchmark of the game and is going to be featured in the movie.
The movie will be available in the theaters in the summer, supposedly. We still do not know if it will succeed, but it is worth looking at.
