The Canadian NASAMS missile defense system, ordered from the USA, has been delivered to Ukraine. This information was conveyed by Canada's Defense Minister, Bill Blair, at the Halifax International Security Forum. The system, ordered two years ago, aims to bolster Ukrainian air defense against Russian attacks.
NASAMS in Ukraine
NASAMS, or National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System, is capable of using short and medium-range missiles. It can be used to defend against drones, missiles, and air raids. The system is valued at approximately CAD 406 ($290) million. Since February 2022, Canada has provided Ukraine with over 300 missiles for air defense.
Minister Blair thanked the United States and Norway for their cooperation in transporting the system. NASAMS is crucial for protecting Ukraine's critical infrastructure and cities from destructive air attacks.
