Mathematics has always been seen as a nightmare for the majority. This is hardly surprising as few look back on their school days fondly. The constant uncertainty, having to answer questions on the blackboard, and complex calculations were enough to make anyone forget the basic rules and principles of mathematics. But these rules are crucial when tackling an equation like this.

Organizing thoughts for Elementary Equations

Only a few individuals confess ignorance or mistakes, but nothing is wrong with that. This often leads to a mathematical race for answers, resulting in as many solutions as there are people. The three most recurring answers are typically 2, 30, or 450. There's no use wasting time exchanging ideas if the outcome is always incorrect. It's far better to quietly work out the equation based on the established rules we all learned in school. Do you recall where to commence the calculations?

These seem to be the major obstacles, but they also hold the key to the correct equation solution. Understanding these principles saves us from unnecessary steps and wasted time, and we realize that mathematics is not as intimidating as we thought. Rightfully branded as the queen of sciences, mathematics is based on logical and systematic thinking that invariably leads to a single, correct result. With clear and inflexible rules, mathematics doesn't allow for much personal interpretation.

One size fits all equation?

At first glance, the operation may seem basic, but is it? On closer inspection, we quickly identified some challenges. The equation includes a bracket, division, and addition – quite a handful of operations to grapple with. So, where do we begin? If you chose division, you might want to rethink your order of operations. It's crucial to remember these rules, or you'll likely end up with an incorrect answer.

It's always recommended to begin with brackets if they are included in the equation. In this example, starting with the bracket would be advisable. The addition shouldn't pose a problem, and the sum equals 15. Inserting this figure into the equation makes it appear more manageable: "60: 2 x 15". This might raise questions concerning the sudden appearance of a multiplication sign. But, it indicates multiplication when nothing stands between the number and the bracket.

Discovering the Equation Result

While some might already have the answer, others may require more time. Note that starting calculations with multiplication will lead to an inaccurate result of 2. It would be more prudent to begin with division and finish with multiplication. This approach yields a final number of 450. After understanding this, does the equation still seem challenging?
