Born on November 28, 1985, in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Landry N'Guemo moved to France with his parents at 13, where his football career began.

N'Guemo's first club was AS Nancy, which allowed him to play in Ligue 1. He also played for the Scottish club Celtic Glasgow for one season, and in the summer of 2011, he moved to Girondins Bordeaux.

In France, he also played for AS Saint-Étienne. Later, he played for Turkish clubs Akhisar Belediyespor and Kayserispor. He played in 42 matches for the Cameroonian national team, which played in the World Cups in 2010 and 2014. The biggest success with the national team was being runners-up in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008.

In 2020, N'Guemo hung up his boots after leaving the Norwegian club Kongsvinger. However, he stayed connected to football and returned to Nancy, where he became a youth coach. During the off-season, he returned to his country. The tragedy occurred there, specifically in Obala, as reported by the africanew.com portal.

The 38-year-old was traveling by car, driven by a chauffeur, overnight from Wednesday to Thursday (June 26/27). The driver veered off the lane, and the car collided head-on with a truck. Both the footballer and the driver did not survive the accident and died at the scene due to injuries sustained.

Authorities are currently investigating the causes of the incident. The former footballer was bid farewell on social media by, among others, the president of the Cameroonian federation, Samuel Eto'o, who had the opportunity to play with him on the field. His former clubs also posted tributes.
